If you have any interest at all in the Duke Lacrosse rape case – and if you are reading this I have a hard time imagining that you wouldn’t have at least a passing interest – I very, very highly recommend that you visit, and in fact read daily, Professor KC Johnson’s blog, LieStoppers. Professor Johnson’s blog contains all of the most recent news, as well as probably the most insightful and penetrating analysis on this travesty of a prosecution. It is a must read. Another Surprise – Prison Sucks
March 17, 2007 · Leave a Comment
So says former Survivor contestant Richard Hatch, who is doing 51 months as a guest of the federal government on a tax evasion conviction. I guess no one let Hatch in on the little secret that prison life totally sucks. Maybe that would have made him think twice about not paying taxes on his “Survivor” winnings. Then again, it was clear that the guy was a jerk on the show. Based on details about his life that came out about him after he won “Survivor,” it would appear that he’s a jerk in real life, too. Jerks don’t usually do well anywhere – in or out of prison.

Big Surprise – Duke Lacrosse Accuser Won’t Cooperate With Prosecutors
March 17, 2007 · Leave a Comment
ABC News reports that the accuser in the Duke lacrosse case has stopped cooperating with prosecutors, refusing to answer their questions. Big surprise. Could be she’s finally realized that she could be facing a perjury rap and doesn’t want to dig herself a deeper hole by continuing to perpetuate the lie. One source quoted in the story opines that this development could make it hard for the prosecution (now led by lawyers from the North Carolina Attorney General’s office after Liar in Chief Mike Nifong was removed from the case). That is undeniably true. It is truer still when you have no case. This prosecution should end now.

Looks Like It’s Not Just the Catholics

Seems that a Church of Christ youth minister has gotten himself into a bit of a bind for mixing business with pleasure, so to speak. Stupidity is indeed ecumenical.

FBI Abused Its Authority
March 9, 2007 · 1 Comment
Here’s a big surprise. The FBI is given the ability to obtain private information about US citizens without a warranr or judicial oversight through the use of so called “national security letters,” and abuses the privliege and violates the law. The whole notion of federal law enforcement becomes mopre and more noxious by the day.

D.C. Madam Pleads Not Guilty

I am glad to see that, after the Scooter Libby show trial (about which I will have more to say), the storm troopers in the District of Columbia are back to pursuing real criminals, making the world safe from high end prostitutes. Why do they bother with this stuff?

Libby Jury Has More Questions

The Scooter Libby jury has ended its ninth day of deliberations, and apparently has still more questions. 9 days. 4 counts. I am betting hung jury.

Bernie Ebbers Will Likely Die in Prison
March 6, 2007 · Leave a Comment
The United States Supreme Court yesterday refused to hear an appeal from former Wordcom CEO Bernard Ebbers, which means that, unless Ebbers is pardoned, he will serve most, if not all, of the rest of his life in prison. I’ve said it before and will say it now again – sentences in our criminal system, especially white collar sentences, are way, way out of whack.

This story is weird. Girl falls asleep on a plane. Guy takes the seat next to her. Girl says the guy ejaculates on her. I’m not sure, though, how they can convict the guy, unless they’ve got DNA evidence. I’m betting there’s more to this story.
