There Are Indeed Two Of Us (At Least)

August 20, 2007 · 2 Comments

I would like to thank Shawn Matlock for his kind words today about this blog. I urge you to read Shawn’s blog, not just because he is a right thinking fellow when it comes to politics (although that counts), but, mainly, because his blog is excellent and his insights are interesting and valuable. And for those of you who think that Matlock and I are both nuts and that one cannot be both a criminal defense lawyer and a conservative, more on that in a bit.

to Mark Bennett for pointing out that I had Scott Greenfield’s blog listed twice in my blogroll. And I urge you to read both of their blogs (and Matlock’s, too).

Blog Recommendation

July 29, 2007 · 3 Comments

If you are reading this post then you are, presumably, interested in criminal law and issues relating to the criminal justice system. I highly recommend that you check out Houston defense lawyer Mark Bennett’s blog, Defending People: The Art and Science of Criminal Defense Trial Lawyering. The blog is first rate, and Mark always has an interesting viewpoint.

The LieStoppers Blog Is a Must Read

March 25, 2007 · Leave a Comment

If you have any interest at all in the Duke Lacrosse rape case – and if you are reading this I have a hard time imagining that you wouldn’t have at least a passing interest – I very, very highly recommend that you visit, and in fact read daily, Professor KC Johnson’s blog, LieStoppers. Professor Johnson’s blog contains all of the most recent news, as well as probably the most insightful and penetrating analysis on this travesty of a prosecution. It is a must read. And, if you are visiting here from Professor Johnson’s blog, or from the Lie Stoppers message board, welcome. I hope you enjoy the blog and that you come back frequently.

By the way, I have been meaning to say that I am very, very pleased to see that Ken Lammers has granted his excellent blog, CrimLaw, at least a temporary stay of execution.

Ken Lammers to Shut Down Crimlaw

January 21, 2007 · Leave a Comment

So I just learned that Ken Lammers has shut down his CrimLaw Blog (apparently the post in which Ken announced this decision was dated December 22, 2006 – goes to show you how slow I can be to pick up on such things. Ah, the demands of practice). This is a huge disappointment to me. I have been reading Ken’s blog for some time, and was a (sporadic) guest blogger there for a spell. I will miss the blog, and wish Ken well.

Southern Appeal to Shut Down

December 23, 2006 · Leave a Comment

I was saddened to learn today that Steve Dillard, known popularly as “Feddie,” has decided to shut down his blog, Southern Appeal. Southern Appeal was the very first blog I ever read, back in 2002. I have been adaily reader – usually many times a day – ever since. I followed the blog from its start as the anonymous efforts of a single law clerk to its present manifestation as a multi-blogger, many faceted production. I will miss reading Southern Appeal, and wish Feddie well. Vaya con Dios, mi amigo.
